image_0186 Ever since my trip out to New Mexico a few years back those of you that know me might have heard me talking about Earthships, Sustainable Living, Renewable Energy, Eco-Friendly Building Materials, Passive Solar Heating and Cooling, Composting Toilets and so on. So you've probably figured out that I'm a little bit interested in this stuff. =)

Next week on Wednesday night on The Discovery Science Channel at 9:00 PM EST there's a show on called Eco-Tech. They're going to have a piece on Earthships for anyone interested in seeing what they are. I no longer want to build an actual Earthship myself, pounding dirt into the tires is very hard work and in the end an Earthship is still very expensive to build. I have learned a lot from their design though, particularly with regards to the differences between R-Value and U-Value, Passive Solar Heating and Cooling, using mass to store and maintain a constant temperature within a structure and just Off-Grid Living in general. So if you're home Wednesday night (August 22nd) at 9:00 PM EST watch it.
