Articles :: Politics :: Qualities of a Great President
written by Toby Miller on January 10, 2008 January 10, 2008 I have been pushing for Ron Paul for a while now and I have this gut feeling as to why I like him over everyone else. I've had a very hard time expressing this feeling in words until I began to look at it from this point of view, "What are the qualities of a Great President?". I listed them out and realized that this is why. I feel that Ron Paul more closely aligns with these qualities than any other current candidate does.
Experience
A president has experience in all of the qualities listed here and does not confuse experience with tenure.
Self Restraint
A president must show the ability to exercise moral judgement -- the ability to always do the right thing and make decisions based on fact and reason, even when faced with opposition, and especially in the face of extremist propaganda.
Inner Calmness
A president must treat every decision with the same sense of calmness and intelligence that is expected of such a leader. A president is able to step outside of the situation and re-engage it with the ability to diffuse and resolve without conflict.
Strength of Men and Women
A president surrounds himself/herself with the strongest and smartest people available to help make the stongest and smartest decisions for the American people.
Character
A president stands strong in the face of controversy and never backs down or stops fighting for what we, as Americans, believe in.
American Made
A president should truly understand the foundations of what makes this country great -- the ability for it's people to live their lives how they choose with a minimum of interference from the government.
